GUIDELINES FOR THE CONDUCT OF CONGRESS TO ELECT CANDIDATE FOR 2027 GENERAL ELECTIONS

SECTION 1:

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) shall be releasing the list of successfully screened Aspirants on the 20th May, 2026 for the conduct of the Party’s Primaries which is scheduled to take place on 25th May, 2026. Please find below the details:

Date: 25th May, 2026

Time 12:00PM

Venues: Party Offices in Headquarters of LGA’s throughout the Federation.

Offices to be contested for:

  1. President, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  2.  Senate, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  3. Member, House of Representatives.
  4. Governor.
  5. Member, State House of Assembly.

SECTION 2: PRIMARY ELECTION

  1. Accreditation And Voting
  2. Accreditation and voting shall take place simultaneously throughout the Federation during the elections
  3. Voting shall:
  4. Be by Open secret ballot and in accordance with the procedures laid down in these guidelines:
  5. Take place on the same day at the same throughout the Federation, excepting a bye-election as ordered by the Party;
  6. Voting must take place if there is a contest except where there is consensus or no contest, then affirmation of Contestant can be used;
  7. No one, other than the electoral officers or accredited agent of the aspirant, shall guide the voter during voting especially on the choice of contestant.
  8. The ballot box shall be kept at such distance that is visible and easily retrievable in case of disagreements.
  9. Counting of votes shall follow immediately after the last person on the queue must have cast his/her vote.
  10. Vote cast by each candidate shall be counted slowly, loud and clear to the hearing of contestants or their accredited agents.
  11. Results shall be recorded in the Outcome of Political Party Form (Form EC.16B) issued by INEC.
  12. Declaration Of a Winner
  13. All result polled at the primary elections shall immediately be announced loud and publicly and consequently recorded in the appropriate summary result sheets. Results that are not recorded on the prescribed sheets shall be rejected.
  14. The returning Officer shall ensure that copies of dully completed summary result sheets are made available to aspirants or their accredited agents.
  15. The results entered into the summary result sheets by the Returning Officer must not exceed the number of voters accredited to vote.
  16. The summary Result sheets shall be signed by the Returning Officer and the aspirants or their accredited agents.
  17. Failure, neglect or refusal to sign the result sheets by the aspirants or their accredited agents shall in no way invalidate the results of the elections.
  18. The aspirant with the highest number of votes cast shall be declared winner and returned immediately after the election by the Returning Officer.
  19. In the case of where no winner emerges after the first round of balloting as a result of a tie, then another round of election shall be carried out immediately to determine the winner between the aspirants whose votes tie. The aspirant with a simple majority of votes cast after the run-off election shall be returned elected.
